My wife’s grandfather is a master with tools. Give him some wood and it’s amazing what he can create. It’s obvious that he has spent years mastering his tools.
My primary tool as a lawyer is Microsoft Word. I’m not a master with this tool, but I’m always open to learning new tips and tricks with Microsoft Word. One of my favorite places to find tips and tricks is The Microsoft Office Word Team’s Blog. This blog is written by the people who created the tool, so they know what they’re talking about.
I learned something new today from a post on this blog. Here it is:
Word determines the spacing between paragraphs by comparing two different settings—the space after the paragraph and the space before the next paragraph—and using the largest value of the two.
I never new that. I don’t know how many times I tried to get spacing right between paragraphs and gave up frustrated on trying to fix the problem. Now I know the problem. I’m one more step closer to mastering my tool as a lawyer.
