Career Success
I led a team in the development and implementation of a compliance and ethics program for Ukpeagivik Inupiat Corporation (1500+ employees). We started off by creating our code of business ethics and conduct called A Clean Umiaq. An umiaq is a seal-skinned covered boat the Inupiat use in hunting the bowhead whale. The story is that a bowhead whale chooses to give itself to a hunter with a clean umiaq because hunters who keep their umiaqs clean are respectful of others, are honest, and care for the community. The employees took great pride in this code and it became the centerpiece of a very successful compliance and ethics program.
